A fast-growing proportion of motorists are opting to use digital self-service solutions when interacting with aftersales departments, according to data from Tjekvik. During the first half of 2026, over 1.7 million self-service interactions were recorded in the UK, representing a 24% increase over the same period last year.
At dealer locations where they were given the option to do so, 58% of UK customers chose to check in their vehicles online before arriving at the dealership, while 29% chose to do so using Tjekvik’s in-showroom kiosks rather than waiting to see a service advisor.
An increasing number of customers are also choosing to collect their keys using Tjekvik kiosks once their vehicle is ready, without having to depend on a service advisor being present.
Over £17m of additional revenue for dealers
Digital self-service solutions are also making a substantial contribution to aftersales revenues for UK dealers. During the first half of 2026, over £17.6 million was generated through self-service during the digital check-in process. Almost 139,000 value-add items were sold in total, and over 68,000 service plans were requested by customers through self-service - a 23% increase year-on-year.
Lubricants and additives were the most popular products purchased by customers through self-service (with over 30,000 items sold), followed by air conditioning services, electrical items and services, such as car batteries and battery health checks, and windscreen and wiper replacements.
“The growing number of added-value sales demonstrates how more customers prefer to make purchasing decisions in their own time, away from the service reception,” comments Christian Mark, CEO and Co-founder at Tjekvik.
“Motorists are increasingly opting for digital-first service experiences, which in turn is significantly boosting profitability for our dealer customers. New technology is continuing to reshape the way drivers engage with aftersales departments.”
Digital check-in solutions in aftersales are also contributing to the sales process. For example, vehicle valuation requests via digital check-in increased by 13% to over 79,000 in the first half of the year, providing sales teams with significant volumes of qualified, high-intent leads.
Tjekvik also continued to expand its global footprint during the first half of 2026, with more dealerships adopting its digital check-in and check-out solutions across 36 countries, including new markets, such as Finland and Italy.
